Hard agree!!! Folklore and evermore showed that she was capable of so much more and I’m so frustrated she’s gone backwards instead of embracing the change
Love this! Absolutely agree on og 1989 being better, TV just doesn’t feel the same, and the production on the vault tracks feels not 1989 at all and way more midnights esque. I will say I’m also not the biggest Midnights and TTPD fan, great songs on each album but overall both could be better. I’m glad she’s releasing them on the Eras tour though, I don’t think either would’ve made a good tour alone. I do wonder what her next album will be like in a post eras world
midnights was definitely a turning point for me as well! and great point about the era's tour. i think it's actually a great way for taylor to wrap up this portion of her career and hopefully move on from the baggage of rerecording. only time will tell...
Thank you for putting into words, exactly my thoughts and feelings. It really bothers me when her fans demand others to only listen to Taylor's Version, and in doing so act like those who like her original recording are doing her a disservice. At the end of the day if someone wants to listen to the original recording let them! There is so much more to music than just a song with words, it's feelings that take you to a different time in your life and the well the rerecordings can never elicit these same feelings
SPOT ON - im also sooo curious about repTV!! seems like the original will be impossible to replicate, especially since it was already so divisive and very of its time
I really liked this post! I've been a lifelong Swiftie and Taylor means so much to me - I was even loud and proud in 2016, which everyone likes to forget just HOW unpopular it was to be a TS fan (rippp my $150 floor tix to Rep). something just feels off in recent years ... Fearless and Red TV were really special moments but after that I just don't think she gaf in the same way. also trying to rewrite the history around the albums (like making 1989 beach themed??) isn't helping ... and all the new fans are so invasive and annoying (i know the og fans weren't perfect but the new ones pmo). UGH i just want her to be free of all this lol
as a chronic relistener, i'm so picky about production. the TVs are night and day and there are just too many variables to get all of them right. i was listening to a bit of fearless and i can at least say the mixes are improved lol

manifesting once this mishmash of eras is over we get some progression!!

hard agree, but i fear “i can never look away” there’s always one gem of song around the corner
Not a Swiftie but even I can't really listen to the Taylor's versions and pretend that's what I wanted to hear. It's just not scratching the same itch
